How we approach the work
Understand the operation first
We spend time with the people who run the process before proposing anything technical. Most bad software comes from solving the described problem instead of the real one.
Prefer boring technology
We build on well-supported, widely understood stacks. Your team has to maintain this after we leave, and an interesting technology choice is a hiring problem two years from now.
Write it down
Decisions, tradeoffs, and the reasoning behind them go into documentation that ships with the code. Institutional memory shouldn't depend on who's still around.
Say no when it's warranted
We turn down work that shouldn't be built, and we recommend off-the-shelf products when one would serve you better. A fixed-price model only works if we're honest about fit.
